My Little Princess Rosebud

My daughter is the inspiration for the poem I wrote for today’s creative endeavor.

My Little Princess Rosebud

Toddling, tip-toe, toppling two-year-old tulip

Hopping, hiccup-stomping, pick me up petunia

You lift me up, my lily stargazer.

Willow curly locks tapping on shoulders

I bubble wrap, bottle up, snap cap

Your sweet pea baby’s breath.

Pink mink, purple prancing peony

Dancing in the sunflower sunbright, I delight.

My California pepper berry baby

With your smart, tough candletuft thorns

And snapdragon apple blossom spirit.

You show me the kangaroo paw yellow

Hidden under the safflower shadow.

Hand in hand, through fire and ice roses

To find the lost moon orchid

The secret bird of paradise.

You are my very own breath of heaven

I thank you, my sage perennial

For showing me the beauty

I had forgotten how to see.
