Foodie Friday: Yogurt Parfait

My sis, Gretchen, designed this beautiful breakfast for our girl’s trip to the beach.

20120629-082105.jpgI’ve been inspired by other blogger’s photos of food, so I’m working on my food photography technique.

Layers of greek yogurt then granola (try In Her Chuck’s granola)

Topped with nuts, dried fruit and fresh fruit

For best results, use a martini glass;)

Seahorse Sketch

“We need the tonic of wildness…At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”

Fish Bowl

Here’s another chalk drawing, inspired by our recent trip to the beach.

Crafty Lil Project

When vacationing with small children, it is always a good idea to bring some indoor projects. I brought some white shirts, and my sis, Gretchen, brought some markers and iron-ons for a “decorate your own shirt” project. The littles drew on their own shirts and picked out their own decals, while Auntie Gretchen did the ironing. I don’t think the littles even noticed that they were all sitting around the table, engaged for at least 15 minutes, a small reprieve for the grown ups. Now, they each have an adorable shirt from our trip to the beach.

Gratitude: A Trip to Santa Cruz

Morning, refreshed, revived

Trip-planning, happening friends

Sharing, laughing, squealing

The deep, blue wondering world

Pondering, pointing, people

Our beautiful world!

Thank you, sweet peeps

For sharing the awe.

Foodie Friday: Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp

I was inspired by a recent trip to our local farmer’s market to make this somewhat healthy and delicious dessert. Nothing says summer like a strawberry rhubarb crisp.

A la vanilla ice cream, of course!

Pacific: Guest Post

I’m always so inspired by my talented sister. Here’s another guest post from Gretchen Kielas.

Girl Meets Cat

Pencil drawing of Lil C with a kitten from a photo taken by my sis, Gretchen. We nearly fainted from the cuteness of it all.

Father’s Day: Guest Post

I’m bookending my Father’s Day posts with two guest posts from my sister, Gretchen and bro-in-law, Seth. I’m amazed by what can be done with Paper.

Art by Gretchen and artistic direction by Seth Kielas.
