Foodie Friday: Simply Pasta

All summer long, I have loved our veggies and fruits from our CSA box from Mountain Bounty Farms. This is a very easy pasta recipe which makes great use of the bounty of veggies we’ve received this week.

I start with the onions in olive oil, then add the other veggies: mushrooms, spinach, zucchini, eggplant, and any other spare veggies that would go well with pasta. I add garlic and tomatoes last. Spice with fresh parsley and basil. It’s so easy, even I can do it.

Tara?

I was thumbing through my old sketchbook the other day and found this portrait I drew in the winter of ’96 while living in Seville, Spain. This was from a photo of my American roommate, Tara, in the time before email, Facebook and cell phones. Back then, we wrote letters on paper and mailed them at the post office. I can’t remember her last name and can’t find the letters, so we have lost touch. Tara, ojala que te pasas muy bien en tu vida.

Lil C is off to Pre Pre

Our daughter, Lil C, started preschool today, so today’s post is in honor of the beginning of her educational journey. May her path be colorful, fun and lined with beauty.

Lil C made the footprints, I decorated, and Mr. B snapped the photo. It was truly a family collaboration.

Guest Blog: Mr. B’s Breaky

Whenever we have a bigger group of guests, Mr. B usually makes this delicious chile relleno casserole. This slice is sitting on top of potatoes…. Yum!

Nevada City in Chalk

We recently made a trip to my hometown, Grass Valley / Nevada City, for the Nevada City Film Festival. Here’s another chalk drawing inspired by our visit.

Driveway Art

Kids are starting to go back to school, the nights are getting cooler, and I am digging in my heels. What I really want to do is stomp my feet, cross my arms and yell, “I’m not ready for summer to end!” But I need to set a good example for Lil C, so instead we’ve been spending most of our final warm sunny days outside. Lil C and I collaborated on this chalk drawing on our driveway, which will be covered with snow before we know it.

On the bright side, fall in Tahoe is pretty amazing too.
